About This Game
Introduction: Bokemob is a fan-made ROM hack of the original Pokemon Blue for the Game Boy. It is not an official title or a known bootleg, but a relatively obscure modification. The hack retains the Kanto region and the classic monochrome visual style of the base game, but introduces a completely new roster of Pokemon and a rewritten storyline.
Gameplay & Mechanics: The hack replaces all 151 original Pokemon with a new, custom selection of creatures, which may include designs from later generations or original creations. The starter choices are typically changed from Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle to three different Pokemon, though the specific trio varies by version of the hack. It runs on the original Game Boy engine, meaning it lacks the Physical/Special split, the Fairy type, and modern quality-of-life features. The difficulty is often increased through higher-leveled trainers and altered wild encounters, but it is not specifically designed as a Nuzlocke challenge.
Key Features:
- Completely New Pokedex: Every encounterable Pokemon in the game is replaced, offering a fresh experience for players familiar with the original Kanto dex.
- Altered Story and Dialogue: The narrative, character names, and in-game text are rewritten, though the core structure of eight Gyms and the Elite Four remains.
- Engine Limitations and Bugs: As a hack of the original Game Boy code, it may contain glitches, translation errors, or instability not present in the official game.
