Introduction: "Pokemon Rescue" is a fan-made game created in Adobe Flash, not a ROM hack of an official Game Boy Advance title. It is a standalone browser-based experience with a unique premise. The story is set in a region called Kanto, but the player's goal is not to become Champion. Instead, you play as a member of the Pokemon Rescue Team, tasked with finding and returning lost or stolen Pokemon to their rightful owners. The visual style uses custom, simplified sprites reminiscent of early Pokemon games but designed specifically for the Flash engine.

Gameplay & Mechanics: The game does not follow the traditional starter Pokemon selection from a Professor. Your initial team is determined by the rescue missions you accept. The difficulty is generally low and puzzle-focused, centered on navigating areas and using specific Pokemon abilities like Cut or Surf to progress. It does not include modern mechanical updates like the Physical/Special split or the Fairy type. The core loop involves receiving a mission file, exploring an area to find a missing Pokemon, and battling optional trainers or wild Pokemon that block your path.

Key Features:

  • Mission-Based Structure: The game is divided into individual rescue missions, each with a specific target Pokemon and location, such as Viridian Forest or Mt. Moon.
  • Puzzle-Centric Exploration: Progression relies heavily on using Hidden Machines (HMs) and interacting with the environment to solve simple puzzles and reach the lost Pokemon.
  • Limited Pokemon Roster: You primarily use Pokemon borrowed for the mission or found during it, rather than building a permanent team through catching and training, which is a significant departure from the core series formula.
As a Flash game, its availability is now dependent on preservation through emulators like Flashpoint, and its scope is much smaller than a full ROM hack.
