About This Game
Introduction: "Pokemon Pikachu XI" is not an official Nintendo or Game Freak title. It is a bootleg game, specifically a poorly translated and modified version of the Japanese Game Boy Color game Keitai Denjuu Telefang, which was marketed internationally under names like "Pokemon Diamond" and "Pokemon Jade." The "XI" in the title is a common bootleg addition to suggest a new installment. The game runs on a Flash Classic system, which refers to emulation of the original GBC hardware. The story involves calling monsters, not catching them, and the visual style is that of the original Telefang, not a Pokemon game.
Gameplay & Mechanics: The gameplay is fundamentally different from Pokemon. You do not choose a starter Pokemon; instead, you use a "cell phone" to call "Denjuu" (the creatures) by dialing numbers found in the world. There is no traditional Pokemon battle system; combat is more akin to a simplified RPG with turn-based commands. The difficulty is often considered high due to poor translation, confusing mechanics, and frequent bugs. Key Pokemon mechanics like types, abilities, and the Physical/Special split are completely absent, as the game operates on its own unrelated rules.
Key Features:
- A non-Pokemon monster roster of over 200 Denjuu, with bootlegs often renaming them after real Pokemon, leading to major inconsistencies.
- A world map and progression system that is confusing due to severe translation errors, making objectives unclear.
- Frequent graphical glitches, crashes, and corrupted text, which are hallmarks of the bootleg cartridge's poor programming and emulation.
