About This Game
Introduction: Pokémon Altair is a fan-made ROM hack of Pokémon FireRed for the Game Boy Advance. It is set in the new Altair Region, a land with a distinct visual style that blends traditional GBA aesthetics with custom tiles and sprites for a fresh look. The story involves investigating a mysterious energy source and confronting the Team Nebula organization.
Gameplay & Mechanics: The hack retains the Generation III engine but introduces significant changes. It includes the Physical/Special split from Generation IV and adds the Fairy type from Generation VI, along with moves and abilities from later generations. The starter Pokémon are Riolu, Shinx, and Gible, offering a unique beginning. The difficulty is elevated with stronger trainers and revised wild Pokémon levels, making it more challenging than the base game but not specifically designed as a Nuzlocke hack.
Key Features:
- A completely new region with over 200 Pokémon from Generations I to IV, including evolutions like Electivire and Magmortar.
- Quality-of-life improvements such as reusable TMs, the Running Shoes working indoors, and the addition of the Vs. Seeker for rematches.
