About This Game
Introduction: "Pokemon Black: Special Palace Edition" is a fan-made ROM hack of the official Pokemon FireRed for the Game Boy Advance. It is not an official title. The hack transports the player to the Unova region from the Nintendo DS games, recreated within the GBA's visual style, meaning it uses the sprite-based, top-down perspective of the third generation.
Gameplay & Mechanics: The hack features the starter trio from the official Black and White games: Snivy, Tepig, and Oshawott. It is built on the FireRed engine, so it does not include the Physical/Special split introduced in Generation IV, nor does it add the Fairy type. The difficulty is generally higher than the base game, with tougher trainer battles, making it a more challenging experience but not specifically designed as a Nuzlocke. Key mechanical changes include the implementation of a day and night cycle and the addition of the Repel menu prompt for convenience.
Key Features:
- An original story set in Unova with new events and a rival character named Blake.
- The inclusion of all Pokemon from Generations I through V, allowing for a massive national dex within the GBA framework.
- Quality-of-life improvements such as reusable TMs and the ability to use Running Shoes indoors.
