About This Game
Introduction: Pokemon BlackGranite X is a fan-made ROM hack of Pokemon FireRed for the Game Boy Advance. It is not an official title. The game is set in the new Granite Region, a custom landmass with its own towns and routes. Visually, it uses the standard Generation III GBA engine, with custom sprite work for new characters and some map tiles to differentiate it from the Kanto setting of its base game.
Gameplay & Mechanics: The hack retains the core mechanics of Generation III, meaning it does not include the Physical/Special split introduced in Generation IV, nor does it add the Fairy type. The starter Pokemon are Riolu, Shinx, and Gible, offering a departure from the traditional starters. The difficulty is generally considered higher than the base FireRed, with tougher trainer battles and Gym Leaders, making it a candidate for players seeking a more challenging experience. It does not feature Mega Evolution or a day/night cycle.
Key Features:
- A completely new story and region with original Gym Leaders and a rival.
- The inclusion of Pokemon from Generations I through IV, expanding the available roster beyond the original FireRed Pokedex.
