Introduction: Pokémon Dark Phantom is a fan-made ROM hack of Pokémon FireRed for the Game Boy Advance. The game is set in the new Koruto Region and follows a story centered on the mysterious Dark Phantom organization. Visually, it retains the standard GBA sprite style of FireRed but adds new maps, characters, and some custom sprites for its original content.
Gameplay & Mechanics: The hack offers a choice of three starter Pokémon: Charmander, Bulbasaur, and Squirtle. It is built on the Generation III engine, so it does not include the Physical/Special split from Generation IV or the Fairy type. The difficulty is higher than the base FireRed, with tougher trainer battles and Gym Leaders, making it less beginner-friendly but appealing to players seeking a challenge. Key mechanical changes include a full day and night cycle, which affects wild Pokémon encounters, and the ability to run indoors from the start.
