About This Game

Pokemon Dream Box Art

Introduction: Pokemon Dream is a fan-made ROM hack of Pokemon FireRed for the Game Boy Advance. It is set in the new Rikoto region, a land with a distinct visual style that blends elements from the official games with custom tiles and sprites. The story follows a trainer on a journey that diverges from the standard Kanto narrative.

Gameplay & Mechanics: The hack retains the standard three-starter choice from the base game: Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle. Its difficulty is generally considered standard, comparable to the official FireRed, and is not specifically designed as a Nuzlocke challenge. Mechanically, it is built on the Generation III engine, meaning it does not include the Physical/Special split from Generation IV, the Fairy type, or Mega Evolution. It does implement a day and night cycle, which was not present in the original FireRed.

Key Features:

  • A completely new Rikoto region with its own map layout, towns, and routes to explore.
  • An expanded Pokedex that includes Pokemon from Generations I through IV, increasing the variety of available creatures.
  • Several quality-of-life improvements, such as the ability to use Running Shoes indoors and the inclusion of reusable TMs.

As a ROM hack, its polish can vary, and players may encounter occasional scripting or mapping inconsistencies not found in official releases.
