About This Game

Pokemon Emerald 386 Box Art

Introduction: Pokemon Emerald 386 is a fan-made ROM hack of the official Game Boy Advance title Pokemon Emerald. It does not create a new region, instead using the existing Hoenn region from the base game. The visual style, music, and core story remain identical to the original Pokemon Emerald.

Gameplay & Mechanics: The primary goal of this hack is to make all 386 Pokemon from the first three generations obtainable within the single game without needing to trade. This includes Pokemon normally exclusive to FireRed or LeafGreen, as well as version-exclusive legendaries. The starter choices remain the standard Hoenn trio: Treecko, Torchic, and Mudkip. The difficulty level is unchanged from the base Emerald, making it no more or less Nuzlocke-friendly. It does not implement later-generation mechanics like the Physical/Special split, Fairy type, or Mega Evolution. The day/night cycle from the original game is present.

Key Features:

  • Complete National Pokedex in One Cartridge: All 386 Pokemon from Generations I, II, and III are available to catch through altered wild encounters, static placements, or in-game events.
  • Preservation of Base Game Content: The hack retains the Battle Frontier, Gym Leader rematches, and the entire storyline involving both Team Aqua and Team Magma.
  • Minimalist Design Philosophy: Unlike many expansive hacks, Emerald 386 focuses solely on Pokedex completion. It does not add new areas, storylines, or major gameplay overhauls, aiming to provide a classic Emerald experience with full Pokemon availability.
This hack is ideal for players who want to complete the National Dex in a Gen III game using only one save file.
