About This Game
Introduction: Pokémon Eruption (Beta 2.1) is a fan-made ROM hack of Pokémon FireRed for the Game Boy Advance. The game is set in the new Kilo Region, a land dominated by volcanic activity. Visually, it uses the standard GBA tiles and sprites from the Generation III era, with some custom maps and sprite edits to fit its volcanic theme.
Gameplay & Mechanics: The hack offers a choice of three starter Pokémon: Charmander, Torchic, and Cyndaquil, all Fire-types, which aligns with the game's theme. The difficulty is notably higher than the base game, with tougher trainer AI and higher-leveled wild Pokémon, making it less forgiving for casual play but potentially appealing for a challenge. It implements the Physical/Special split from Generation IV, modernizing move mechanics. The Fairy type is not present, and the game does not include Mega Evolution or a day/night cycle.
Key Features:
- A completely new region, the Kilo Region, with a story centered on volcanic disasters and a criminal team named Team Magma.
