About This Game

Pokemon Evolve Box Art

Introduction: Pokemon Evolve is a fan-made ROM hack of Pokemon FireRed for the Game Boy Advance. It is set in the new Evolve Region, a landmass distinct from Kanto, with a story centered on a legendary Pokemon's influence on evolution itself. The visual style uses FireRed's engine with custom tiles, sprites, and maps to create a unique environment.

Gameplay & Mechanics: The hack offers a choice of three starters: Riolu, Gible, and Larvitar. It is designed with a higher difficulty curve than the base game, featuring stronger Gym Leaders and trainers with more strategic teams, making it a popular choice for players seeking a challenge. Mechanically, it incorporates the Physical/Special split from Generation IV and includes Pokemon and moves from Generations I through IV, all within the GBA framework. The Fairy type is not present, and Mega Evolution is not a feature.

Key Features:

  • A completely new region with original towns, routes, and a Victory Road replacement called the Evolve Path.
  • An expanded Pokedex featuring over 200 Pokemon from the first four generations, including many that were not native to the original FireRed.
  • Quality-of-life improvements such as reusable TMs and the ability to use Running Shoes indoors.

This hack provides a substantial new adventure for GBA players looking for a familiar yet fresh experience with later-generation Pokemon.
