About This Game
Introduction: Pokémon Expert Emerald is a fan-made ROM hack of the official Game Boy Advance title Pokémon Emerald. It is set in the original Hoenn region and retains the standard visual style of the Generation III games, but is extensively modified to provide a significantly more challenging experience.
Gameplay & Mechanics: The hack is built around a high difficulty curve, with all trainer and Gym Leader teams being competitively built and holding items. It is not considered Nuzlocke-friendly for beginners due to this spike. The game uses the original Generation III mechanics, meaning it does not include the Physical/Special split, the Fairy type, or Mega Evolution. The day/night cycle from Emerald is present. A key change is the expanded Pokédex; you can obtain all 386 Pokémon from Generations I through III within the game, including starters from other regions. Your initial starter choices are the standard Hoenn trio: Treecko, Torchic, and Mudkip.
