About This Game

Pokemon Fire Red : Shiny Flame (beta) Box Art

Introduction: Pokémon Fire Red: Shiny Flame (Beta) is a fan-made ROM hack of the official Pokémon FireRed for the Game Boy Advance. It is set in the Kanto region, using the original game's visual style and engine as a base. The hack's primary focus is on increasing the availability of Shiny Pokémon and adjusting the game's roster.

Gameplay & Mechanics: The hack retains the original starter choices of Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle. Its defining mechanical change is a drastically increased chance of encountering Shiny Pokémon, making them far more common than in the base game. It does not implement the Physical/Special split from later generations, nor does it add the Fairy type or Mega Evolution. The difficulty level is not significantly altered from standard FireRed, making it more of a collection-focused experience than a challenging one.

Key Features:

  • Dramatically increased Shiny Pokémon encounter rates throughout the game.
  • An expanded Pokédex that includes some Pokémon from the Johto and Hoenn regions, though the selection is not comprehensive.
  • Minor quality-of-life tweaks, such as the ability to run indoors from the start of the adventure.

As a beta version, the hack may contain unfinished elements or bugs, and its changes are largely centered on the Shiny mechanic rather than a new story or region.
