About This Game

Pokemon Identity (beta) Box Art

Introduction: Pokemon Identity (beta) is a fan-made ROM hack of Pokemon FireRed for the Game Boy Advance. The game is set in the new Kaskade Region, a land of islands and waterways. Visually, it uses the standard Generation III engine with custom tiles and sprites for its new towns and routes.

Gameplay & Mechanics: The hack offers a choice of three starter Pokemon: Chimchar, Piplup, and Turtwig, imported from Generation IV. Its difficulty is notably higher than the base game, featuring stronger trainer AI and Gym Leaders with full teams of six Pokemon, making it a challenging but fair experience for players. It incorporates the Physical/Special split from Generation IV and includes the Fairy type and Mega Evolution mechanics from later generations, all running on the modified FireRed engine.

Key Features:

  • A completely original narrative with new characters, including multiple rivals and a fresh set of eight Gym Leaders for the Kaskade Region.
  • Full National Pokedex implementation, allowing players to catch every Pokemon from Generations I through VI within the game world.
  • Numerous quality-of-life improvements such as reusable TMs, the ability to run indoors, and an expanded post-game episode.
As a beta, the game is largely complete but may contain minor bugs or unfinished areas in its later segments.
