About This Game
Introduction: Pokemon Iridescent is a fan-made ROM hack of Pokemon FireRed for the Game Boy Advance. It is set in the new Iridia Region, a land with a story centered around the clash between the legendary Dialga and Palkia. The visual style uses the standard GBA tiles and sprites from the Generation III era, with some custom sprite work for new characters and a few map edits.
Gameplay & Mechanics: The hack offers a choice of three starter Pokemon: Chimchar, Piplup, and Turtwig, imported from Generation IV. It maintains the original FireRed engine, so it does not include the Physical/Special split from later generations, nor the Fairy type. The difficulty is moderately increased with stronger trainer teams, making it more challenging than the base game but not explicitly designed as a Nuzlocke hack. Key mechanical changes include the implementation of a day and night cycle and the ability to use Running Shoes indoors.
Key Features:
- A completely new story and region with original Gym Leaders and a rival.
- An expanded Pokedex featuring Pokemon from Generations I through IV, allowing for a wider team-building selection.
- The inclusion of several post-game areas and legendary Pokemon encounters, including the central Dialga and Palkia storyline.
As a complete hack of FireRed, it provides a substantial new adventure for players familiar with the GBA framework.
