About This Game
Introduction: Pokemon Marble (Beta 2) is a fan-made ROM hack of Pokemon FireRed for the Game Boy Advance. It is set in the new Marble Region, a landmass with a mix of standard routes and a distinct, somewhat blocky visual style in its towns and dungeons that gives the game its name. The story follows the traditional journey of a new Trainer, but with original characters and a plot separate from Kanto.
Gameplay & Mechanics: The hack retains the Gen III mechanics of its base, meaning it does not include the Physical/Special split, the Fairy type, or Mega Evolution. The starter Pokemon are the classic Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle. The difficulty is generally standard, comparable to official games, and is not specifically designed as a Nuzlocke challenge. Key mechanical changes from the base FireRed are limited; it primarily focuses on presenting a new region and story rather than overhauling core systems.
Key Features:
- Original Region and Story: The game features the entirely new Marble Region with its own map layout, towns, and Gym Leaders, offering a fresh adventure outside of the official settings.
- Expanded Pokemon Roster: While keeping the Gen III engine, the hack includes Pokemon from later generations, such as Lucario and Garchomp, broadening the available team options beyond the original FireRed Pokedex.
- Beta-State Content and Bugs: As a beta release, the game is incomplete and contains numerous bugs, including potential soft-locks, graphical glitches, and untranslated or placeholder text, which significantly impacts the play experience.
