About This Game
Introduction: Pokemon Mitic Island (Spanish: Beta 1) is a Spanish-language ROM hack of Pokemon FireRed for the Game Boy Advance. The game takes place on the titular Mitic Island, a new region separate from Kanto. Visually, it uses the standard FireRed engine with custom maps and some new sprite work, though it retains the familiar GBA graphical style.
Gameplay & Mechanics: The hack offers a choice of three starter Pokemon: Chikorita, Cyndaquil, and Totodile, the Johto trio. As a hack of FireRed, it does not include the Physical/Special split from Generation IV, nor does it add the Fairy type. The difficulty is generally standard, not specifically designed as a Nuzlocke challenge. Key mechanical changes are limited, with the core focus being on the new region and story rather than overhauling battle systems.
Key Features:
- A completely new region, Mitic Island, with its own towns, routes, and gym leaders to challenge.
- The inclusion of Pokemon from Generations I, II, and III, expanding the available roster beyond the original FireRed regional dex.
- A full Spanish-language translation and script, which was a primary feature for its intended audience at the time of release.
It is important to note that as a "Beta 1" release, the game is incomplete and may contain bugs, untranslated text, or areas that are not fully accessible. The hack is a product of its era in the Spanish ROM hacking community.
