Introduction: Pokemon Old White is a fan-made ROM hack of the official Pokemon FireRed for the Game Boy Advance. It is not an official Nintendo product. The game is set in the Unova region, but it is a reimagined version that takes place many years before the events of Pokemon Black and White. Visually, it uses the Generation III engine and tilesets from FireRed, adapted to depict an older, more rustic Unova.

Gameplay & Mechanics: The hack retains the starter trio from the original Unova games: Snivy, Tepig, and Oshawott. Its difficulty is notably higher than a standard game, featuring stronger Gym Leaders and trainers with more strategic teams, making it a popular choice for players seeking a challenge. Mechanically, it incorporates the Physical/Special split from Generation IV, but it does not include the Fairy type or Mega Evolution. A day and night cycle is present, affecting wild Pokemon encounters.
