About This Game

Pokemon Orange Box Art

Introduction: Pokémon Orange is a fan-made ROM hack of Pokémon FireRed for the Game Boy Advance. It is set in the Orange Archipelago, the island chain featured in the anime, and uses the standard Generation III visual style with custom maps and sprites for the tropical locations.

Gameplay & Mechanics: The game begins with a choice of three starter Pokémon: Charmander, Squirtle, or Bulbasaur. It retains the original FireRed mechanics, meaning it does not include the Physical/Special split from Generation IV or the Fairy type. The difficulty is moderate and comparable to the official games, making it accessible for a standard playthrough. A key mechanical change is the implementation of a day and night cycle, which affects wild Pokémon encounters in certain areas.

Key Features:

  • An original story following the anime's Orange Islands arc, where you collect Shell Badges instead of Gym Badges.
  • All 386 Pokémon from Generations I through III are obtainable, including many from the Johto and Hoenn dexes.
  • New island-based navigation puzzles and the return of the Surfing Pikachu minigame from Pokémon Yellow.
The hack is a complete adventure that offers a familiar but distinct journey through a beloved anime location.
