About This Game

Pokemon Ruby Destiny Reign of Legends (Extended Version Beta 1) Box Art

Introduction: Pokémon Ruby Destiny: Reign of Legends (Extended Version Beta 1) is a fan-made ROM hack of Pokémon Emerald for the Game Boy Advance. It is the first entry in the Ruby Destiny trilogy by creator Destiny. The game is set in the new region of Gento, a land threatened by the legendary Pokémon Dialga and Palkia. Visually, it uses the standard Generation III engine with custom tiles, sprites, and maps for its original locations.

Gameplay & Mechanics: The player begins with a choice of three starter Pokémon: Eevee, Riolu, or Shinx. The game is known for its higher difficulty curve compared to official titles, featuring tougher Gym Leaders and wild Pokémon with elevated levels, which can make it challenging for a standard playthrough but not specifically designed as a Nuzlocke. It does not include the Physical/Special split from Generation IV, nor does it add the Fairy type or Mega Evolution. It retains the day/night cycle and other core mechanics of its Emerald base.

Key Features:

  • An original story involving Team Magma and the temporal legendaries, with a completely new region and Gym Leader roster.
  • A vastly expanded Pokédex featuring many Pokémon from Generations I through IV, including legendaries like Darkrai and Giratina available in the main story.
  • Multiple post-game episodes and side quests, including the "Extended Version" content that adds new areas and story events beyond the original hack's conclusion.

As a Beta version, players may encounter occasional scripting errors or graphical glitches, but the core adventure is fully complete. This hack is a foundational title known for its ambitious scope within the early GBA hacking community.
