About This Game

Pokemon Septo Conquest Box Art

Introduction: Pokemon Septo Conquest is a fan-made ROM hack of Pokemon FireRed for the Game Boy Advance. It is set in the new Septo Region, a land divided into seven distinct territories, each with its own theme and leader. The visual style uses the standard Generation III tiles and sprites, with some custom maps and character designs to fit the new setting.

Gameplay & Mechanics: The game offers a choice of three starter Pokemon: Chimchar, Piplup, and Turtwig from Generation IV. It is built on the Generation III engine, so it does not include the Physical/Special split from Generation IV or the Fairy type. The difficulty is higher than the base FireRed, with stronger Gym Leader teams and adjusted wild Pokemon levels, making it less immediately suitable for a blind Nuzlocke run. Key mechanical changes include a day and night cycle and the addition of the Running Shoes for use indoors.

Key Features:

  • A new story involving the conquest of the seven territories, each with a boss-like leader instead of traditional Gyms.
  • The inclusion of Pokemon from Generations I through IV, expanding the available roster beyond FireRed's original Dex.
  • Quality-of-life improvements like reusable TMs and the removal of trade evolutions, allowing a complete solo playthrough.
The hack is a complete adventure with a custom narrative, though players may encounter minor scripting bugs typical of fan projects.
