About This Game

Pokemon Slyveon Hack (beta) Box Art

Introduction: Pokemon Slyveon Hack (beta) is a fan-made ROM hack of the Game Boy Advance game Pokemon FireRed. It is not an official release. The hack takes place in the Kanto region, but with a modified story and roster. Visually, it retains the standard FireRed engine and sprite work, with the primary changes being to the available Pokemon and some story elements.

Gameplay & Mechanics: The hack's defining feature is the inclusion of Sylveon and the Fairy type from Generation VI, retroactively added to the Generation III engine. This means type charts and move effectiveness are updated. The starter choices are Eevee, Ralts, and Mareep, all of which can evolve into Fairy-type Pokemon. The difficulty is generally similar to the base FireRed game and is not specifically designed as a Nuzlocke challenge. It does not include the Physical/Special split from Generation IV, so moves are still categorized by type.

Key Features:

  • Fairy Type Integration: The Fairy type is fully implemented, affecting type matchups for Pokemon like Clefairy, Jigglypuff, Gardevoir, and the new Sylveon.
  • Expanded Pokemon Roster: The hack adds several Pokemon from later generations, primarily those that are or become Fairy-type, into the Kanto wild encounter tables.
  • Eeveelution Focus: With Eevee as a starter and Sylveon added, the hack places a greater emphasis on obtaining and using all of Eevee's evolution forms.

As a beta, the hack may contain unfinished areas or minor bugs, but it is a complete playable experience focused on its core concept of introducing Fairy types to Kanto.
