About This Game
Introduction: "Pokemon Throwback" is a fan-made ROM hack of Pokemon FireRed. It is set in the Kanto region, but the story takes place several years after the original events, featuring an older Professor Oak and a new protagonist. The visual style uses the standard Game Boy Advance tiles and sprites from the Generation III era, with some custom sprite work for new characters.
Gameplay & Mechanics: The game offers the classic Kanto starters: Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle. It is designed to be a more challenging experience than the base game, with increased trainer levels and smarter AI, making it suitable for players seeking a tougher run. It does not implement the Physical/Special split from Generation IV, staying true to the original FireRed mechanics. The Fairy type and Mega Evolution are not present. A day and night cycle has been added, affecting wild Pokemon encounters in certain areas.

- An expanded post-game storyline involving Team Rocket remnants and a new threat.
