Introduction: Pokemon Vaporeon Blue is a fan-made ROM hack of the official Pokemon FireRed game, built for the Game Boy Advance. It is not an official Nintendo release. The hack takes place in the familiar Kanto region but with a significant narrative twist, casting you as a member of Team Rocket. The visual style retains the standard FireRed engine and tilesets, with modifications to character sprites and some maps to fit the new story.
Gameplay & Mechanics: Your starter is a Vaporeon, and you cannot obtain the traditional Kanto starters. The game is designed to be more challenging than the base FireRed, with tougher trainer battles and modified wild Pokemon encounters, making it suitable for players seeking a harder experience. It does not implement the Physical/Special split from Generation IV or add the Fairy type. Key mechanical changes are story-driven, such as performing missions for Team Rocket instead of challenging Gyms in the traditional order.
Key Features:
- Team Rocket Storyline: You play as a Rocket recruit, completing missions that often involve stealing Pokemon and sabotaging other trainers.
- Altered Progression: The standard Gym badge quest is replaced with a mission-based structure, changing how you navigate and unlock areas in Kanto.
- Modified Pokemon Availability: Wild encounters and trainer teams are changed to reflect the darker theme, featuring more Poison-type and traditionally "villainous" Pokemon like Ekans, Koffing, and Houndour earlier in the game.
