About This Game
Introduction: "Pokemon: Yet Another Fire Red Hack" is a fan-made ROM hack of the official Pokemon FireRed for the Game Boy Advance. It is set in the Kanto region and uses the standard FireRed visual style, with some modifications to maps and sprites. The hack's primary goal is to provide a more challenging and complete Kanto experience by altering the core game's progression and content.
Gameplay & Mechanics: The hack retains the original three starter choices: Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle. It is designed with a higher difficulty level, featuring stronger Gym Leaders and trainers with improved AI and teams, making it suitable for players seeking a challenge. It does not implement the Physical/Special split from Generation IV or add the Fairy type. Key mechanical changes include the addition of a day and night cycle, which affects wild Pokemon encounters, and the inclusion of all Pokemon from Generations I through III, making a full National Pokedex available within the Kanto region.
Key Features:
- Expanded Pokemon Roster: All 386 Pokemon from Generations I to III are catchable in the wild or through events, removing trade evolutions.
- Increased Difficulty: Gym Leaders and major trainers have redesigned teams with higher levels, better movesets, and held items.
- Quality-of-Life Improvements: Features like reusable TMs, the ability to use Running Shoes indoors, and the removal of certain story blockades for more open exploration.
