About This Game
Introduction: Pikamon Silver is a bootleg Game Boy Color cartridge, not a ROM hack of an official game. It is a poorly translated and modified version of the Japanese bootleg Keitai Denjuu Telefang 2, which itself is a monster-collecting RPG unrelated to Pokémon. The story involves contacting and battling creatures called "Denjuu" via a cell phone, set in a generic world. The visual style is a direct copy of the Telefang game, with sprites and environments that are distinct from official Pokémon titles.
Gameplay & Mechanics: The game does not feature traditional Pokémon starters. Instead, players begin by obtaining a "cell phone" to call Denjuu. The gameplay revolves around random encounters where you can attempt to call these creatures to your party, a system different from Pokémon's catching mechanics. The difficulty is inconsistent due to poor game balance and frequent bugs. It does not include any modern Pokémon mechanics like the Physical/Special split or Fairy type, as it is based on a 2001 Game Boy Color title. The day/night cycle from the original Telefang 2 is present but often glitchy.
Key Features:
- Bootleg "Pokémon" roster consisting of Denjuu from Telefang 2, with many given nonsensical names like "Pikamon" in an attempt to mimic Pokémon.
- Heavy use of a cell phone interface for in-game actions like calling monsters and checking maps, which is central to the original game's design.
- Numerous game-breaking bugs, severe translation errors that make the story incomprehensible, and a high likelihood of save file corruption.
