About This Game

Pokemon Adventure Box Art

Introduction: "Pokemon Adventure" is a fan-made ROM hack of Pokemon FireRed for the Game Boy Advance, not a Game Boy Color title. It is set in the Kanto region but follows a story based on the Pokemon Adventures manga series. The visual style uses FireRed's GBA assets, with some custom sprites for characters and events from the manga.

Gameplay & Mechanics: The hack does not offer a traditional starter choice; instead, your beginning Pokemon is determined by the manga's plot, often starting with a Poliwag. The difficulty is higher than the official FireRed, with tougher trainer battles and adjusted level curves, making it more challenging but not specifically designed as a Nuzlocke. It retains the Gen 3 mechanics, meaning there is no Physical/Special split, no Fairy type, and no day/night cycle. Key changes include a completely rewritten storyline and event scripting to mirror the manga's narrative beats.

Key Features:

  • Story based on the Pokemon Adventures manga, featuring characters like Red, Blue, and Green and plot events not seen in the games.
  • Altered progression and gym leader battles that reflect the manga's more dangerous and strategic encounters.
  • Custom events and scripting, including the integration of the Team Rocket takeover of Silph Co. as a central story arc.
The hack is a complete narrative overhaul, offering a distinct experience for players familiar with the source material.
