Pokemon Dark Future (beta 3.1)

Introduction: Pokémon Dark Future (Beta 3.1) is a fan-made ROM hack of Pokémon Crystal for the Game Boy Color. It presents a darker, post-apocalyptic storyline set in the Kanto region, approximately 50 years after the events of the original games. The visual style uses the standard Generation II GBC engine, but with new, often desolate, map designs and custom sprites to reflect its grim setting.

Gameplay & Mechanics: The game offers a choice of three starter Pokémon: Charmander, Bulbasaur, or Squirtle. It is designed with a higher difficulty curve, featuring tougher trainers and wild Pokémon, making it suitable for players seeking a challenge. It retains the original Generation II mechanics, meaning it does not include the Physical/Special split from Generation IV, the Fairy type, or Mega Evolution. A day/night cycle is present, inherited from the base Crystal ROM.
