About This Game

Pokemon Orb Box Art

Introduction: Pokémon Orb is a fan-made ROM hack of Pokémon Emerald. It is set in the new Orbtus Region, a landmass shaped like a celestial orb, and runs on the Game Boy Advance engine, not the Game Boy Color. The visual style retains the core Emerald graphics but features new maps, character sprites, and tiles for its unique locations.

Gameplay & Mechanics: The hack offers a choice of three starters: Treecko, Torchic, and Mudkip. It is designed with a higher difficulty curve than the official games, featuring tougher Gym Leaders and trainers with better AI and move-sets, making it a solid choice for players seeking a challenge. It does not implement the Physical/Special split from Generation IV. The core mechanics remain those of Generation III, but it includes a day and night cycle and the reusable TMs introduced in later generations.

Key Features:

  • A completely new region with eight Gyms and a unique storyline involving the legendary Deoxys and a mysterious orb.
  • Access to all Pokémon from Generations I through III, with many available before the post-game, alongside some later-generation evolutions like Gallade and Froslass.
  • Quality-of-life improvements including the Running Shoes being usable indoors and the addition of new areas like the Orbtus Safari Zone and Mystery Island for exploration.
The game provides a substantial new adventure for players familiar with the Emerald engine.
