About This Game

Pokemon Ultra Violet (Beta) Box Art

Introduction: Pokémon Ultra Violet is a ROM hack of the official Game Boy Advance game FireRed. It is set in the standard Kanto region and retains the visual style and engine of its base game. The hack's primary goal is to make every single Pokémon from the first three generations obtainable within a single playthrough without needing to trade.

Gameplay & Mechanics: The game begins with a choice of the three standard Kanto starters: Bulbasaur, Charmander, or Squirtle. Its difficulty is nearly identical to the original FireRed, making it a standard, casual experience rather than a challenge-focused hack. It does not implement later-generation mechanics like the Physical/Special split or the Fairy type. The core mechanical change is the complete modification of wild Pokémon encounters and static gifts to include species from Generations II and III.

Key Features:

  • Complete National Dex availability, with all 386 Pokémon from Generations I-III catchable in the wild or given as gifts in Kanto.
  • Early access to running shoes, usable indoors from the moment you receive them in Viridian City.
  • Specific event changes, such as obtaining the other two Kanto starters from Professor Oak's aides and finding Eevee in the Celadon Mansion.
As a beta, the hack is functionally complete for its stated goal but may have minor, unresolved bugs from the editing process. It is a straightforward option for players seeking a classic Kanto journey with a vastly expanded Pokédex.
