About This Game

Pokemon Blue (enhanced) Box Art

Introduction: "Pokemon Blue (Enhanced)" is a fan-made ROM hack of the official Pokemon Blue Version for the original Game Boy. It is not a new region but an extensive modification of the Kanto adventure, built directly on the Generation I engine. The visual style remains faithful to the classic 8-bit graphics but with significant sprite updates and palette improvements.

Gameplay & Mechanics: The hack retains the original starter choices of Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle. Its primary mechanical overhaul is the integration of the Physical/Special split from Generation IV, fundamentally changing move categorization and battle strategy. It does not introduce the Fairy type or Mega Evolution. The difficulty is increased through smarter AI and higher-leveled trainers, making it more challenging but not specifically designed as a Nuzlocke hack.

Key Features:

  • Expanded Pokedex and Availability, incorporating many Pokemon from Generations II and III into the Kanto region while maintaining a logical distribution.
  • Updated Movepools and Reusable TMs, applying modern learnsets and the convenient TM system from later generations to the classic framework.
  • Quality-of-Life Improvements such as a running shoes function, a more intuitive menu interface, and corrected type chart mechanics from later games.
This hack is designed for players seeking the classic Kanto journey with modernized battle mechanics and a much broader team-building experience.
