About This Game
Introduction: "Pokemon: Johto Journeys" is a ROM hack of the Game Boy Color title Pokemon Crystal. It is not an official game. The hack uses the original Johto region as its setting, but modifies the story and available Pokemon. Visually, it retains the classic 8-bit style and color palette of the base game.
Gameplay & Mechanics: The hack offers a new selection of starter Pokemon, typically including Eevee, Pikachu, and Clefairy. The difficulty is generally considered standard, similar to the original Crystal, and is not specifically designed as a Nuzlocke challenge. Mechanically, it does not introduce the Physical/Special split or the Fairy type, as it is built on the Generation II engine. It retains the original day/night cycle and breeding mechanics from Crystal.
Key Features:
- An expanded Pokedex featuring Pokemon from Generations I, II, and III, allowing for teams not possible in the official Johto games.
- Modified story events and trainer teams, including some new rival encounters and adjusted Gym Leader rosters.
