About This Game

Pokemon Stadium 2 (France) Box Art

Introduction: This is the official French-language release of Pokémon Stadium 2 for the Nintendo 64. It is not a ROM hack or a bootleg. The game is a battle simulator and companion title for the Game Boy Color games Pokémon Gold, Silver, and Crystal. It features full 3D polygonal models of all 251 Pokémon from the first two generations, set in various arena-like stadiums.

Gameplay & Mechanics: The core gameplay revolves around structured Pokémon battles. You do not choose a starter or explore a region; instead, you build teams from Pokémon transferred via the Transfer Pak from the Game Boy games or rent pre-made sets. The difficulty is modular, with cups ranging from the simple Poké Cup to the brutally challenging Prime Cup. The game uses the exact mechanics from Gold, Silver, and Crystal, meaning there is no Physical/Special split, no Fairy type, and day/night cycles are only present in certain modes. Key mechanics include the Gym Leader Castle and the Elite Four challenge, which require consecutive wins with rental Pokémon.

Key Features:

  • Complete Pokédex and Mini-Games: The game includes a detailed 3D Pokédex for all 251 species and a suite of nine mini-games for up to four players, such as Clefairy Says and Snore War.
  • Round 2 and Free Battle: After completing the initial cups, Round 2 unlocks with stronger, more strategic rental Pokémon. The Free Battle mode allows for completely customizable battles against friends or the CPU.
  • Stadium Mode and Connectivity: The primary function is the Stadium Mode, which lets you play your Game Boy Gold, Silver, or Crystal cartridge on the N64 with enhanced graphics and the ability to use items from the PC in-battle.

The French version is a direct localization of the English release, offering the same content with translated menus and text.
