About This Game

Pokémon Blaze Black 2 & Pokémon Volt White 2 Box Art

Introduction: Pokémon Blaze Black 2 and Pokémon Volt White 2 are a pair of ROM hacks created by Drayano, based on the official Nintendo DS games Pokémon Black 2 and White 2. The hack retains the original Unova region and story but comprehensively overhauls the available Pokémon and difficulty. It uses the same DS-era sprite-based visual style as the base games.

Gameplay & Mechanics: The hack features an expanded Pokédex with all 649 Pokémon from Generations I through V available to catch in a single version. The player can choose any starter Pokémon from the first five generations. It is a significant difficulty hack, with all trainer teams—including Gym Leaders and the Elite Four—being redesigned with stronger, fully-evolved Pokémon and improved AI, making it popular for challenge runs. It retains the core Generation V mechanics like the Physical/Special split and does not add later features like the Fairy type or Mega Evolution.

Key Features:

  • Complete Pokédex expansion, allowing players to catch every Pokémon from Bulbasaur to Genesect without trading.
  • Increased difficulty with redesigned boss battles, often featuring full teams of six Pokémon with competitive movesets and items.
  • Quality-of-life improvements such as reusable TMs, the ability to run indoors, and the removal of trade-based evolution requirements.
The hack is designed for players seeking a more demanding and complete experience within the Unova framework.
