About This Game
Introduction: This is the official Japanese version of Pokémon Black 2 for the Nintendo DS. It is a direct sequel to Pokémon Black, set two years later in the Unova region. The game uses the same high-quality, animated sprite-based visual style as its predecessor, with a significant portion of the region's geography altered by new and frozen areas.
Gameplay & Mechanics: The player begins in Aspertia City and chooses one starter from Tepig, Snivy, or Oshawott. The game features the established Generation V mechanics, including the Physical/Special split and no Fairy type. Its difficulty is higher than many mainline titles, with stronger Gym Leader teams and a robust post-game, making it popular for challenge runs. A key mechanical change is the introduction of the Pokéstar Studios side activity and the Medal system for achievements.
Key Features:
- An expanded Unova Dex featuring over 300 Pokémon available before the National Dex, including many species from previous generations not found in Black and White.
- The Pokéwood Studios minigame, where players direct short films starring their Pokémon for unique rewards.
- The Black Tower (in Black 2) or White Treehollow (in White 2), extensive post-game battle facilities that reward the player with a Shiny Gible or Shiny Dratini upon completion.
