About This Game

Pokemon: Edicion Platino Box Art

Introduction: "Pokemon: Edicion Platino" is the official Spanish-language release of Pokemon Platinum Version for the Nintendo DS. It is not a ROM hack or bootleg. The game is set in the Sinnoh region, an enhanced version of the world from Pokemon Diamond and Pearl. The visual style retains the DS-era 3D environments and sprite-based characters, with a distinct, colder color palette reflecting the story's focus on the legendary Giratina and the Distortion World.

Gameplay & Mechanics: The player chooses from the standard Sinnoh starters: Turtwig, Chimchar, or Piplup. The game's difficulty is moderately higher than Diamond and Pearl, featuring stronger Gym Leader and Elite Four teams, making it a popular choice for standard and Nuzlocke challenges. It fully implements the Physical/Special split introduced in Generation IV. Key mechanical additions include the expanded Battle Frontier post-game and the Vs. Recorder for saving battles. The Fairy type and Mega Evolution are not present, as they were introduced in later generations.

Key Features:

  • Expanded Sinnoh Dex and Revised Story: The regional Pokedex is expanded to include new evolutions like Tangrowth and Yanmega earlier in the game, and the narrative heavily features the Distortion World and the antagonistic Cyrus.
  • Updated Gym Leader and Elite Four Rosters: Major boss battles feature more diverse and powerful teams, such as Flint using Fire-types instead of a mixed team of five different types.
  • Post-Game Battle Frontier and Extended Areas: The full Battle Frontier returns, and areas like the Battle Zone and Turnback Cave offer significant post-story content, including the chance to catch Giratina in its Origin Forme.
This version is considered the definitive way to experience the Sinnoh region on the original DS hardware.
