About This Game

Pokemon Link! (EU) Box Art

Introduction: Pokémon Link! is the European title for the official Nintendo DS puzzle game Pokémon Trozei!. It is not a main-series RPG, a ROM hack, or a bootleg. The story is a simple setup where you play as an agent for the "Secret Battle Organization" tasked with rescuing Pokémon that have been "Trozei'd" (linked and captured) by the criminal group "Phantomile". The visual style is bright, cartoonish, and built entirely around the touchscreen-based puzzle grid.

Gameplay & Mechanics: The game is a fast-paced puzzle title where you slide rows or columns of Pokémon icons on the bottom screen to link four or more of the same species in a row, either horizontally or vertically. Clearing icons drops more from the top, allowing for chain reactions. There are no starter Pokémon choices, traditional battles, or RPG mechanics like the Physical/Special split. The difficulty is based on puzzle speed and complexity across its various modes, including a story campaign and endless survival modes. It is not an adventure game and thus not designed for challenges like a Nuzlocke.

Key Features:

  • Touch-Screen Puzzle Combat: The entire game is played by linking Pokémon icons on the touch screen to "trozei" them, with different stages requiring you to clear specific Pokémon or defeat bosses by depleting their health bars with rapid combos.
  • Extensive Pokémon Roster: The game includes all 386 Pokémon from the first three generations, all of which appear as icons in the puzzle grid, making it a comprehensive visual catalog for its time.
  • Multiple Game Modes: Beyond the story-driven "Secret Agent" mode, it features a "Endless Trozei" survival mode, boss rush-style "Battle Trozei", and a two-player versus mode using DS Download Play.
This title is a distinct spin-off that focuses purely on quick, reflex-based puzzle action rather than exploration or creature collection in the traditional sense.
