About This Game

Pokemon - Platin Edition (DE) Box Art

Introduction: "Pokemon - Platin Edition (DE)" is the official German-language release of Pokemon Platinum Version for the Nintendo DS. It is the definitive third version of the Sinnoh region games, following Diamond and Pearl. The story centers on the player's journey to stop Team Galactic from using the legendary Pokemon Dialga and Palkia to create a new world, with the narrative later expanding to include the mysterious Giratina and the Distortion World. The visual style is an enhanced version of the DS-era 3D environments and sprite work, featuring an expanded regional Pokedex and redesigned areas like the Battle Frontier.

Gameplay & Mechanics: The game retains the standard starter choice of Turtwig, Chimchar, or Piplup. Its difficulty is considered a step up from Diamond and Pearl, with improved trainer AI, higher-level teams for major battles, and a more challenging Elite Four rematch, making it popular for self-imposed challenges like Nuzlockes. Mechanically, it is built on the Generation IV engine, which includes the Physical/Special split for moves, online connectivity via the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection, and the Poketch application. It does not include the Fairy type or Mega Evolution, which were introduced in later generations.

Key Features:

  • Expanded Sinnoh Dex and Post-Game Area: The regional Pokedex is expanded to 210 Pokemon, incorporating evolutions like Tangrowth and Yanmega that were previously post-game only. The post-game opens up the entirely new Battle Frontier on Route 225, offering five unique battle facilities.
  • Distortion World and Story Expansion: The narrative climax takes place in the Distortion World, a puzzle-based area with altered physics where the player confronts Giratina. This significantly expands the lore of the Sinnoh legendaries compared to the original duo of games.
  • Enhanced Visuals and Daily Events: Many Sinnoh locations, such as Sinnoh's Victory Road and Mt. Coronet, received graphical overhauls with more detail. The game also features a robust cycle of daily events, including the Vs. Recorder for re-watching battles and daily battles at the Fight Area and Survival Area.
This version is widely regarded as the complete and polished experience of the Sinnoh adventure.
