About This Game

Pokemon - Versione Bianca Box Art

Introduction: "Pokémon - Versione Bianca" is the official Italian-language release of the core series game Pokémon White Version for the Nintendo DS. It is the paired title to Pokémon Black Version, launching Generation V in 2010. The game is set in the entirely new Unova region, which was designed to be geographically distant from previous regions. The visual style features detailed, animated sprites for all Pokémon during battles and a more cinematic presentation for story sequences.

Gameplay & Mechanics: The player's starter Pokémon choice is between Snivy (Grass), Tepig (Fire), and Oshawott (Water). The game maintains the Physical/Special split introduced in Generation IV. A key mechanical change is that until the main story is completed, the Unova Pokédex contains only the 156 new Pokémon native to the region, preventing the use of older species. The game's difficulty is moderate, with a notable spike in the later stages, and its structured routes can make it suitable for self-imposed challenges like Nuzlockes.

Key Features:

  • Dynamic Seasons: The game world changes visually and functionally every real-world month, affecting which areas are accessible and which Pokémon appear.
  • Reusable TMs: All Technical Machines can be used infinitely, a permanent change to the core series that began with this generation.
  • Narrative Focus: The story, involving the ideological conflict with Team Plasma and the legendary Pokémon Reshiram, is more integrated and prominent than in earlier titles.
The post-game unlocks the entire National Pokédex and includes a significant new area to explore, substantially extending playtime.
