About This Game

Pokemon Latios (silver hack) Box Art

Introduction: Pokemon Latios (Silver Hack) is a fan-made ROM hack of the official Pokemon Silver for the Game Boy Color. It is not an official game or a bootleg. The hack modifies the existing Johto region and story, placing a greater narrative emphasis on the legendary Pokemon Latios. Visually, it retains the original Game Boy Color aesthetic with some custom sprite work for key characters and events.

Gameplay & Mechanics: The game begins with a choice of the standard Johto starters: Chikorita, Cyndaquil, or Totodile. The difficulty is generally similar to the base Pokemon Silver game, though some trainer teams and wild Pokemon distributions are altered. It does not include modern mechanics like the Physical/Special split or the Fairy type, as it is built on the Generation II engine. The day/night cycle from the original game remains fully functional.

Key Features:

  • Latios-Centric Story: The plot is rewritten to involve Team Rocket attempting to capture Latios early in the game, altering the player's journey through Johto.
  • Altered Pokemon Availability: The wild Pokemon encounters and trainer rosters are edited, making some species available earlier or in different locations than in the original Silver version.
  • Custom Events and Dialogue: The hack features new scripted events and modified dialogue to support its unique storyline, including interactions with Latios and revised rival encounters.

This hack offers a familiar Johto adventure with a reshaped narrative focus for players seeking a different story within the classic Generation II framework.
