Gameplay & Mechanics: You do not choose a traditional starter. Instead, your first Pokémon is a stolen Bulbasaur taken from a new Trainer in Viridian City. The game is designed with a higher difficulty, featuring tougher Trainers and a level curve that expects strategic play, though it is not a forced Nuzlocke. It retains the FireRed mechanics, meaning no Physical/Special split or Fairy type.
