About This Game
Introduction: "Pokemon of the Past DX" is a fan-made ROM hack of Pokemon Crystal for the Game Boy Color. It is set in the Kanto region, but during a historical period before the events of the original games, featuring a story centered on ancient lore and the legendary Pokemon Mew. The visual style uses the standard Gen 2 GBC engine with some custom sprite work for new characters and events.
Gameplay & Mechanics: The hack offers a choice of three starter Pokemon: Chikorita, Cyndaquil, and Totodile. It maintains the original Gen 2 mechanics, meaning there is no Physical/Special split, no Fairy type, and no Mega Evolution. The difficulty is moderately increased with stronger trainer teams, making it more challenging than the base game but not explicitly designed as a Nuzlocke. A day and night cycle is present, as in Pokemon Crystal.
