About This Game

Pokemon : Poli Version Box Art

Introduction: Pokémon: Poli Version is a fan-made ROM hack of Pokémon FireRed for the Game Boy Advance. The game is set in the new Poli Region, a landmass with a mix of standard routes and some custom tiles. The visual style is largely that of the base FireRed game, with some new sprite work for characters and a few custom environments.

Gameplay & Mechanics: The game retains the standard three-starter choice from Kanto: Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle. It does not implement the Physical/Special split from Generation IV, nor does it add the Fairy type. The difficulty is generally standard, comparable to official titles, and is not specifically designed as a Nuzlocke challenge. Key mechanical changes are minimal, with the hack focusing more on its new story and region rather than overhauling core battle systems. The day/night cycle from later generations is not present.

Key Features:

  • A completely new storyline set in the Poli Region, featuring a new set of Gym Leaders and a rival.
  • The available Pokémon are primarily from Generations I through III, with the regional Pokédex consisting of these species.
  • Includes some quality-of-life improvements from the base FireRed game, such as the VS Seeker for rematching trainers and the ability to run indoors.

The hack is a complete adventure but is considered a simpler, earlier-generation project without the extensive feature sets of more modern hacks.
