About This Game

Pokemon Neo : Adventure (red) Box Art

Introduction: Pokémon Neo: Adventure (Red) is a fan-made ROM hack of the Game Boy Advance game Pokémon FireRed. It is not an official title. The hack takes place in the new region of Neo, which features a completely original map. Visually, it retains the standard FireRed art style and engine, with custom sprite work for new characters and some Pokémon.

Gameplay & Mechanics: The game offers a unique set of three starter Pokémon: Eevee, Pikachu, and Dratini. It is built on the pre-Physical/Special split mechanics of its base game, so moves are categorized by type rather than by the move itself. The difficulty is generally higher than the official FireRed, with tougher trainer battles and Gym Leaders, making it a more challenging experience but not specifically designed as a Nuzlocke hack. Key mechanical changes include the addition of the Dark and Steel types from later generations, which are integrated into the existing type chart.

Key Features:

  • An entirely new region with over eight Gyms and a custom storyline.
  • A expanded Pokédex that includes Pokémon from Generations I, II, and III, with some altered evolutions and availability.
  • Numerous scripted events and side quests not found in the original game, adding to the exploration.
The hack is a complete adventure that provides a fresh setting using familiar mechanics.
